Paraiso (The True Spirit Of Ibiza)
Following the release of DJ Alfredo's posthumous celebration of what Balearic music meant to him (and he knew, since he pretty much drew up the blueprint), Rebirth is releasing a slew of 'bonus samplers' featuring music that couldn't fit on the vinyl version.
Naturally, it's packed to the rafters with genuine gems. The EP opens with Andrew Weatherall's incredible 'Let There Be Drums' take on Italian outfit Deep Joy's 'Fall' - all jaunty pianos, elongated sax solos, dub delay and densely layered beats - before we're treated to a previously unreleased instrumental of the Bruce Forest-mixed 1987 Thrashing Doves classic 'Jesus on the Payroll'. Over on side B, the 'Dope Dub' mix of KC FLightt's cowbell-heavy hip-house jam 'Let's Get Jazzy' is followed the acid-flecked, sub-heavy Balearic trip-hop of 'Blinky Blue-Eyed Sunrise' by The Metaluna Mutant.
