Over two decades with Schema Records have cemented Frisina’s reputation as a master of fusing latin jazz, funk, and soul with modern electronic sensibilities. Following the stylistic evolution hinted at in Moving Ahead (2020), this second volume of In Sight embraces a more expansive and minimal-dance approach, weaving psychedelic textures with deep rhythmic drive. The four new compositions—particularly the hypnotic “Ya’aburnee,” evoking echoes of Four Tet and Trentemøller—show Frisina at his most exploratory, layering intricate percussion, bass movement, and cosmic atmospheres.

Alongside the new work, the album revisits earlier material with a club-focused lens. “Mindoro,” “Tarab,” and the already-celebrated “Mystical Funk” are reimagined for the floor, the latter extended into a Fender Rhodes and electric guitar-led journey that captures the warmth and vitality of live improvisation. Together, they form one of Frisina’s most complete statements yet—a vivid balance of deep listening and high-energy performance that affirms his place at the crossroads of jazz tradition and electronic innovation.
