In Transit
If you thought Dave Huismansโ (๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฎ, ๐๐ ๐ ๐ผ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ค๐ช๐ฃ๐) recent return as ex_libris was good, his new, ๐ก๐ค๐ฃ๐-๐๐ค๐ง๐ข ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐๐ข๐๐ก๐๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐ช๐ ๐จ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐๐ค๐ง ๐๐๐ง๐๐ช๐จ ๐
๐ค๐ฃ๐๐จโ FELT label under the "In Transit" alias is another leap up, giving wings to nearly 40 mins of the finest shine-eyed downbeat pressure this side of NWAQ/154, Studio Pankow, Civilistjรคvel! or Rod Modell - ๐ฅ๐ง๐ค๐ฅ๐๐ง ๐ฉ๐ค๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐๐๐ง ๐๐ช๐จ๐๐ฃ๐๐จ๐จ.
In Transit sees Huismans go one step deeper down the rabbit hole he entered as ex_libris a few months ago. Like that project, it finally sees light of day after many years marinading in folders he would return to irregularly as a sort of meditative practice, dusting down loops and seeing how they connected after some dozen years hidden away in the archive.
When he finally got to unravelling them, they revealed a vibe thatโs a far cry from his earliest work, and although sharing a slower, hazier aesthetic with ex_libris, he would logically push that sound deep into a sort of subconscious hypnagogia guided by sixth senses and shorn of any urgent, rhythmic impulses. The result is hugely absorbing - deep without losing momentum, winding down different paths that feel engaging rather than forgettable.
At a rested heart rate the tracks swim on the imagination from distant, sonorous clanks and whispered chords in โA.33โ, thru the tongue-tip thizz and searching tendrils of โA.2829โ, to the subaquatic jazz sway of โA.18โ, gently surfacing for air in the blissed iridescence of an โA.25โ shades away from NWAQโs โDead Bearsโ vibes shared with the crystalline synth motifs of โA.19โ, and vaporised to exquisite effect in โA.3132.โ
