𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙙 𝙖𝙡𝙗𝙪𝙢 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙤, “𝙏𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙜𝙖𝙠 𝙎𝙚𝙢𝙞” 𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 2000 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢-𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 — 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙩, 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙭𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡.

This is Pranoto’s signature blend: accordion, acoustic guitar, bamboo flute and hand percussion intertwining with his unique digital assembly methods. Drawing inspiration from both Eastern and Western traditions, he crafts music that floats somewhere between folkloric memory and a shimmering, imagined world — always rooted in the beauty and renewal of the natural environment.

The title “Tunggak Semi” references the regenerative power of Bali’s giant trees — cut the trunk, and life returns from the roots. That philosophy aligns closely with Pranoto’s daily practice of meditation and openness: music as a living organism, never truly finished, always growing.

A self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a background in electronics and telecommunications, Pranoto embraced early digital audio tools of the 1990s like Cubase and Pro Tools. His process is strikingly collage-like: inviting musicians to record separately without ever meeting, then assembling their performances into a cohesive and poetic whole. As he says with a smile: *“The musicians have never even met!”*

Alongside influences like Ryuichi Sakamoto and Peter Gabriel, Pranoto explores a fusion where spiritual ecology meets modern technology — using computers not as replacements for musicianship, but as tools of possibility, expression and transformation.

Recorded at Interactive Garden Studio (Depok, Bogor) between September and December 2000. The 2025 vinyl edition has been delicately remastered by Wouter Brandenburg (Brandenburg Mastering) to illuminate the album’s acoustic warmth and its serene digital aura for a new decade of listeners.
