The revered Finnish labelโs programming skills are A+ on this one, coaxing out an unusual yet seductive alternative side to minimal techno artist Bruno Pronsato, alongside more atypical parts of enigmatic hush and finesse from sferic and Faitiche regular, Romรฉo Poirier, and Bristolโs Memotone on return to the fold after a superb self-titled EP in โ23.
A key player in the โ00s minimal techno movement, Berlin-based US artist Bruno Pronsato transposes that soundโs crisp, spacious detailing and fluidity to downtempo frameworks in an ace A-side โAbove the Launderette (Maniรจres Bizarres Mix)โ, with 12 mins of sublime, noirish tension that feels like a particularly oddball Perlon number played at 33 not 45RPM at a David Lynch afterparty.
Romeo Poirier opens the B-side nearly 10 years since โPlage Arriรจreโ placed them on the map, gauzily saluting/squinting at the distant inspiration of Jon Hassell with the blurred brass plumes and pulses of โThalassocratieโ that also recall the vertiginous scope of Eli Keszler, and beautifully in key with the weightless jazz physics to Memotoneโs sylvan inscape, โThe Way In(side).โ
