𝙀𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙥 𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 — Le Héron / A Reuniåo brings together Katya Shirshkova and David Maranha in a split LP shaped during their residency at La Box (ENSA Bourges), and issued by Stellage in July 2024.

Shirshkova’s Le Héron occupies Side A with a solo voice piece recorded entirely without effects or overdubs. Built from overlapping loops, it evokes choral minimalism and folk tradition through fragile, featherlight phrasing. Its vertical polyphony forms slowly in real time — a delicate structure shaped by breath, repetition, and exacting technique.

On the flip, Maranha’s A Reuniåo explores the opposite end of sonic density. Seven drone suites stretch into physical, resonant space — organs, overtones, and sustained harmonics locking into tense stasis and slow evolution. It’s immersive and unrelenting, where minimalism becomes a form of pressure and persistence.

Two singular approaches, bound by a shared focus on duration, structure, and the body behind the sound. A striking document of deep listening and concentrated form.
