Inspired by his daily commute between Setúbal and Lisbon during his Fine Arts studies, the album unfolds like a series of snapshots—personal, fluid, and deeply textural. Drawing spiritual lineage from the dreamlike atmospheres of Nuno Canavarro and the delicate electronic minimalism of Susumu Yokota, *Lisbon Dreams* channels ambient, new age, and subtle experimental electronics into something quietly powerful.
Rather than overanalyzing the work’s meaning, funcionário quotes John Cage: *“Don’t try to create and analyze at the same time.”* And it shows—each piece feels intuitive and unforced, letting emotion and memory guide form. These are musical sketches of a city in flux, filtered through personal transitions and creative solitude.
A stunning contribution to the growing catalog of modern Portuguese ambient music, and a thoughtful, slow-burning listen that lingers like a memory just out of reach.
