Originally released in 1980, Elizio De Búzios’ cult single “Tamanqueiro” blends raw Brazilian funk with disco finesse and irresistible lyrics inspired by a local clog-maker. The A-side's unique swing, cuíca rhythms and street-level charm earned it underground fame decades later — now lovingly reissued by Rush Hour.

Recorded in one take with future 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙤𝙨 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚𝙧 Vale Ribeiro, and buried by poor label promotion, “Tamanqueiro” vanished — until diggers brought it back as the “best Jorge Ben song Jorge Ben never recorded.” Elizio never became a star, but he still sings in local bars, proudly watching his long-lost single gain the love it always deserved.
