The august ambassadors of Detroit and Berlin techno reprise their duo for Tresor at Borderland: Transport with a lush suite of techno dub archetypes.

Three years on from their first Borderland session, and following on from the sublime, rolling preface, Riod, which is included here, they draw the best out of each other over seven luxuriant and expansive dimensions.

We’re most struck by the album’s less conventional pieces, testing out styles on the limits of either producer’s radar. At the sweetspot of Detroit and Berlin, the tightly sprung but spacious electro-stepper Merkur is a perfect case in point, whilst the sloshing, acidic techno of 2600 finds them drawing out-of-the-lines with wickedly discordant, psychedelic effect, and the brooding transition from chamber-like darkness to glowing 313 harmonies in Odyssey is a joy to follow.

You can safely trust the others are all satisfyingly deep and effective, too.
