António Emiliano
Gahvoreh
This 1988 album by Portuguese composer Antonio Emiliano, who worked across diverse musical fields including film, theater, and dance while also conducting research as a linguist, was composed that same year for the naturalized Portuguese dancer Gagik Ismailiam. features exotic melodies and rhythms seemingly rooted in ancient music from Greece, Spain, and Portugal, influenced by Arab traditions. Its perspective soundscapes, richly incorporating string instruments and synthesizers, are truly magnificent. The entire work is colored by ancient ethno-experimental music overflowing with a New Age flavor, reminiscent of the works of Spain's Luis Delgado and Luis Paniagua, son of Gregorio Paniagua.
This record contains the original music commissioned by the Music Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for the choreography GAHVOREH by Gagik Ismailian.
Highly recommended.
