𝘼 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩-𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙟𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚, First Light by Makoto Matsushita returns in 2025 on clear lime yellow vinyl, faithfully reproducing the original album jacket with photography by Kaoru Ijima.

Originally released in 1981, First Light is widely considered Matsushita’s masterpiece, blending smooth city pop grooves, sophisticated fusion guitar lines and the polished production style that would later make him a central figure of kayōkyoku and Japanese pop. Known also as a member of the funk-fusion group AB’s alongside Fujimaru Yoshino, Matsushita showcased here both his virtuosity as a guitarist and his refined sense of songwriting.

This new edition preserves the original tracklist and includes a brand-new remaster for vinyl, presented with a deluxe three-panel fold-out booklet. First Light remains a shining gem of the city pop era, capturing the golden moment when Japanese fusion, soul and pop converged with effortless style.
