Anchored by the commanding spoken word of Camae Ayewa (aka Moor Mother), this debut LP blends radical poetry and searing improvisation from a formidable lineup: Keir Neuringer on sax, Aquiles Navarro on trumpet, Luke Stewart on bass, and Tcheser Holmes on drums.

The group draws clear lineage from the Black Arts Movement and artists like Amiri Baraka, Sun Ra, Albert Ayler, and the New York Art Quartet, but pushes it into the present — both sonically and politically. Tracks like “Chicago to Texas” and “Fireworks” rage and breathe, rising with intensity as Ayewa’s poetry strikes at the heart of institutional violence, displacement, and survival.
