Commodo and Gantz join forces for the first time on Ilian Tape, pushing deep into dubbed-out, syncopated territory. Both known for their mutations of UK bass and post-dubstep, the duo blend low-end control with avant-garde sampling and spatial manipulation across four heavyweight tracks.
Thereβs grime DNA here, but stripped of hype and rebuilt with loose jazz phrasing, Turkish instrumentation, and ghostly atmospherics. Beats roll slow and heavy, like smoke through concrete, never in a rush. Gantzβs spectral psychedelia locks in with Commodoβs precision-weighted minimalism to create something deeply physical, but elusive.
A dense and oddly meditative release that feels just as suited to headphones in fog as it does to a soundsystem warehouse at 3am. Proper smoked-out pressure from two singular voices in the bass continuum.
