Formed by drummer Andi Haberl (The Notwist) and synthesist Florian Zimmer (Saroos, Driftmachine), Bella Wakameโs first full-length emerges from a live-centric workflow that privileges immediacy and response over studio polish. The result: a series of freeform exchanges that stretch and fold rhythm, harmony and texture into unpredictable shapes.
From the ritual pulse of โShadows of Nambeiโ (featuring Indra Dunis of Peaking Lights) to moments that echo Groupshow, Jeremiah Chiu or Bitchin Bajas, the duo dance between tactile percussive energy and expansive modular drift. Recorded live in Berlin and built around the tension between control and spontaneity, the album moves between motorik club motifs and ambient jazz abstraction without ever settling in one place.
Itโs a deep dive into instinctive, dialogic performanceโloose, kinetic, and constantly evolving. A project that thrives on immediacy and impermanence, Bella Wakame lean into the slipstream, letting sound spill where it wants.
