Compiled by Luca Fiore and Glossy Mario, this deep dive into Europe’s percussive explorations from 1979 to 1990 reveals a fascinating era when artists embraced global rhythmic traditions and fused them with local experimentation. Across nine rare tracks from France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Austria, and beyond, the compilation documents a time when congas, tablas, shekeres and gamelan instruments were woven into new-age textures, jazz harmonies and proto-worldbeat experiments.

It opens with the atmospheric “Rainforest” by British duo Ova, setting a tone of organic ambience that flows into Jean-Michel Bertrand’s “Engines” — a striking collision of industrial electronics and African groove — and Cuco Pérez’s hypnotic “Calabó Bambú,” where accordion swirls around tribal chants. Elsewhere, these artists reveal a shared fascination with borderless sound, creating music that feels as spiritual and meditative as it is physical and earthbound.
