Dregs
Dregs
𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙨 resurfaces on vinyl via Purely Physical Teeny Tapes with their narcotic 2023 debut, originally self-released out of Naarm. Across two sides, the collective conjures a heavy-lidded blend of dub pressure, trip-hop haze, and slow-motion breakbeat, all submerged in deep low-end and smeared texture.
Built around the trio of Sina, Drop Dylan and Ossian—with trance veteran Rip Van Hippy joining on percussion—this LP folds blasted post-club influences into a dark ambient body: vocals drift through reverb fog, drums trudge and collapse, guitars emerge as flickers and dissolve. There's tension in restraint, but never collapse; a controlled burn moving through murk and echo.
More séance than session, Dregs plays like the afterimage of a rave long dissipated—ritualistic, sensual, and loaded with weight. Not music for the night, but of it.
