Archie Bell & The Drells / The Intruders
Tighten Up At The Disco / Be Thankfull For What You Got
A deep digger’s delight — this rare soul/funk 7" gets a proper reissue via Mad About Records. Originally released in the late ’70s by the obscure group Tribe (not to be confused with Tribe Records), this double-sider brings together gritty disco-funk energy and a smooth soul anthem with a raw, DIY feel.
"Tighten Up at the Disco" is a lo-fi dancefloor bomb — funky bassline, tight drums, and infectious energy. It’s a rough-edged response to disco’s polished side, made for smoky basement parties and underground selectors.
On the B-side, "Be Thankful for What You Got" (a cover of the William DeVaughn classic) slows things down, delivering warmth and sincerity with a stripped-down arrangement and soulful vocals.
Perfect for fans of private press soul, rare groove, and those who like their funk a little dusty and honest.
