Second Drop
𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙩, 𝙛𝙖𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩 𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙥 — Second Drop marks the long-awaited return of Leipzig’s Bassmæssage imprint, following up 2015’s beloved Volume One with another heavyweight showcase of global low-end craft.
Side A rides the 160 BPM wave with Nuphlo & Bukkha’s halftime pressure on “Drip”, merging South Asian melodies and cavernous subs into a tense, modern steppa. DjBadshape follows with “Drift,” a slick breakbeat cut built on melodic poise and warm bass roll. Graz’s Sun People closes the side with “Rise Up” — a raw blend of footwork, jungle, and 90s hardcore mutations, full of forward drive and dusty breaks.
The flip takes a deeper dive, opening with Dub Across Borders’ dreamlike “Bass Tree Dream,” a dubbed-out fusion of Colombian folklore and Copenhagen soundsystem aesthetics. Finally, Paranoid One offers the reflective and subtly club-ready “Glimp,” layering smooth textures over a hidden 4/4 thump — low-key but deceptively kinetic.
More than a compilation, Second Drop reflects a community rooted in deep listening, DIY energy, and global connection — from Leipzig to Leeds, Bogotá to Graz. Strictly bass frequencies, no borders.
