Moving through four tightly focused tracks, Juan Mendez revisits the foundations that shaped his artistic path: early Detroit techno and electro, Belgian EBM, post-punk wave aesthetics, Berlin dub techno and the harsher UK sounds of the late 90s. Rather than imitation, these references are absorbed and reconfigured into a stripped, modern framework where tension, restraint and atmosphere take precedence.
Each piece feels like a timestamped memory, heavy with weight and intention, balancing mechanical precision with emotional depth. The EP avoids nostalgia, instead using history as raw material to articulate a forward-facing vision of techno that remains deeply rooted in its lineage.
In Memoriam stands as both tribute and statement โ a distilled reflection on influence, loss and continuity, and a reminder of Silent Servantโs enduring role in shaping the darker, more introspective edges of contemporary techno.
