Originally released on his self-titled 1987 LP, these two cuts showcase Beasley’s signature blend of sax-led jazz-funk, glossy synths and machine-tight drum programming. “Hard Work” rides an uptempo groove that splits the difference between boogie and smooth jazz fusion—reimagined here with a DJ-friendly structure that pushes the bassline further into the front of the mix.

Flip to “Night Crawler” and you get a sultrier, midtempo glide, laced with atmospheric pads and neon-lit melodic phrasing. It's classic late-night cruising material, steeped in that polished '80s R&B studio finesse but now given a subtle modern rework to enhance its dancefloor bite.
