The 1969 follow-up to their groundbreaking debut, Contact saw Silver Apples dive deeper into their uniquely electronic psych-rock vision. Where their first record introduced the world to their oscillating, otherworldly sound, this second album is more urgent, emotionally charged, and sonically adventurous. It captures the duo at their most boundary-pushing, building warped pop songs from pulsing electronics, primitive rhythms, and detached vocals.
Remastered from the original tapes, this edition includes an inner sleeve featuring rare images of the master tape boxes. It also restores the original artwork, which led to a lawsuit from Pan Am due to the front coverโs cockpit photo and a back cover collage of a plane crashโan incident that contributed to the bandโs early demise.
Though short-lived, Silver Apples left a long shadow, influencing artists from Stereolab and Blur to the Beastie Boys and beyond.
