Objekt’s Kapsela label introduces fellow dance mutator Gyrofield to the fold with a smart round of stepping and psyched-out techno bruk full of shearing sound design and deftly restless rhythm programming.

In hot pursuit of her 2024 XL 12” the Hong Kong-raised Bristol-bassed producer Kiana Li aka Gyrofield pulls out four of her rudest to suitably step up to the occasion as Kapsela’s first artist not named Objekt. Under the canny title ‘Suspension of Belief’ she manifests a proper world building sound in club context where needlepoint Afro-Latinate rhythms and etheric voice juxtapose killer neuro synth snarl in a rolling 130BPM chassis on ‘Vegetation Grows Thick’, before flashing her fangs on the nastier martial jack and sweltering psych noise of ‘Bolete.’

She continues to switch up style and pattern with the balance of stepping offbeats, bolshier bass and droll vox that draw lines between Bristol’s post-punk and rave histories in a unique style on ‘Rorschach’, right thru to the bashy, asymmetric jazz-techno bruk maelstrom of ‘Brinjal’.
