Almost a cliche, but one that lives on its truth; โStoned Immaculateโ is a definitive slice of late night โ90s pressure. More bifters have been built and dispatched to this album than practically any other from that era, and youโll have to take our word for it cos, to be fair, statistics are hard to come by. Itโs simply a masterclass in hypnotic low key chronics, primed for the gouch out with its OG examples here augmented with a pair of bonus dubs for an ideally baked bakerโs dozen.
Follow-up to an also brilliant โStrike the Balanceโ salvo of a few years earlier, โStoned Immaculateโ hailed Style Scott, Adrian Sherwood and coโs in-house On-U Sound band and main vehicle pulling up in the early โ90s with stacks of heavy hitters in tow, from Tackheadโs Skip McDonald to post punk pioneer Keith Levene (PiL, New Age Steppers) and Style Scottโs Roots Radics bandmate Bingy Bunny all up in it along with the voice of Prince Far I sampled from beyond.
If memory serves right, this keyboard tapperโs copy was cadged from a pal's dad, and served us well for years with the likes of baggy, skanking title tune, and baga tunes liberally referencing pop cultural and soundtrack licks in a classic, playful UK x JA style, and with psychoacoustic effect that would prompt many others to delve much deeper along those lines into dub history (or zooted bedsit oblivion).
