These tracks, recorded mostly on rudimentary gear by a young Richard D. James, fuse ambient textures with electro, acid, and techno foundations. Cuts like “Xtal” and “Tha” drift with dreamy melancholy, while others like “Pulsewidth” and “Hedphelym” tap into more physical, percussive territory.

A deeply personal and influential work that set the tone for an entire generation of producers — full of emotion, restraint, and the kind of quiet experimentation that never ages. Ambient techno at its most human.
