Radiohead's Kid A, originally released in 2000, marked one of the most radical pivots in major-label music history. Moving away from the anthemic guitar-driven rock of OK Computer, the band embraced electronic textures, modular synthesis, minimalism, and manipulated samples. The result was an album that challenged expectations and redefined the boundaries of what alternative rock could be.
Influences span from Aphex Twin, Autechre and Can to Miles Davisโs Bitches Brew and 20th-century classical music. Tracks like "Everything In Its Right Place" and "Idioteque" dissolve structure in favor of fractured loops and haunting ambience, while "How to Disappear Completely" and "Motion Picture Soundtrack" bring an orchestral, post-human melancholy.
This double LP edition restores Kid A to its full analog glory, remastered for vinyl with gatefold packaging. A milestone in sonic experimentation and emotional dislocation, it remains a vital document of a band dismantling themselves to discover something unrecognizable, but utterly compelling.
